A Note to Parents

Do you want your child to maximise their life experience in the UK whilst at university? Are you concerned about their physical well being, mental well being, safety and happiness in your absence?

Here at  Student Shepherds we are here to help.   

With over twenty years experience in education and pastoral care and having worked in China, Grand Cayman and Thailand, as well as the UK, I understand your child's needs.  We will support your child to integrate into their new community, forge relationships and help enhance English language skills. 

If they have any social, safety or communication concerns, we are a phone call away.  We are here because you can’t be.

Helen is an experienced, caring and responsible teacher.  She had been the private English tutor for my son, Tony, for a year.  We truly saw the tangible improvements on my son’s English communication, comprehension and most importantly, the confidence expressing himself in English.  Grades had also been improved a lot over the year.  We would give the credits to Helen.

Helen’s teaching methods were individualised to Tony’s needs.  At the beginning of the tutoring, she did an evaluation session with Tony and shared with us her assessments on Tony’s speaking, grammar, writing and reading levels and designed the following courses accordingly.  Tony once mentioned that he liked playing basketball and football.  The readings Helen used in the next lesson on the World Cup really brought Tony’s interest and he learned a lot.

We are very satisfied with the structured learning material and appreciate the efforts Helen made every time to make the lessons engaging.  We also appreciate her efforts in trying to develop a good habit and discipline for my son by leaving proper homework and insisting Tony to read and practice after course.  What has been valuable to my son is not only the English knowledge he attained, but also the right methods to learn English and the confidence of expressing himself in English.  Helen is not only an excellent teacher but also has become a good friend to Tony.  Learning English with Helen has been a joyful time for my son.
